So excited to have Hannah Schnabel as one of our Inspirational Speakers
Hannah Schnabel is a true Renaissance Woman: Owner and Designer for Belle Ampleur, a plus size luxury clothing company based in Seattle, WA, the Creator and Producer behind Curves in Bloom- a one day celebration of all bodies, a designer for stage and film, an actress, public speaker, home chef, and dog mom to her rescue pup, Beatrice! Hannah loves to create connections for humans of all backgrounds to have meaningful conversations around the intersections of art, body image, politics, and personal lived experiences.
The creation of her clothing line Belle Ampleur is a direct result of her 20 years of experience working in retail and the lack of options for the plus size consumer. She recognizes the sizeism that is inherent in fashion, and for years, empathized with her clients and wept with them in tiny fitting rooms surrounded by clothing that they could only look at, not wear. This frustration with sizeism led to a righteous anger, and catapulted her into a new career. Hannah went back to school at 30 years old –learned the trade of pattern making and garment construction– and then launched Belle Ampleur three years ago. Hannah continues the fight, one garment, one client at a time. Hannah longs to be an integral part of destroying sizeism in fashion and the erroneous notion that fat women don’t want high end fashion. Hannah Schnabel makes handmade clothing for women of beautiful scale. Luxury. Life sized.
