We are so excited to have Monique Dubose for the second year come and bless our space with her amazing energy, motivation and inspiring swag!
Monique Dubose could have never envisioned herself as a Master Resiliency Instructor, let alone a curriculum writer and an entrepreneur. As the owner of The Resilient You – Motivational Speaker/Teacher since January 2014 and the co-author of the United States Air Force’s official Resiliency curriculum; she is indeed all that and more! She provides lifesaving tools to audiences to help them identify their strengths, believe in those strengths, build, and overcome challenges and conflicts. Her message is simple: “You” are Resilient and “You” have the power to “Bounce Back”! She shares personal stories about being a 21 year Airman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, falling down, and dealing with anger, as she continues to the fight in this thing she calls LIFE. And that is not enough for her…Monique’s purpose is without any doubt to serve, by first being attentive to the needs of others showing empathy and making everyone she meets feel AMAZING! She empowers her audiences to access their personal power and face whatever comes their way.
A sought-after public speaker, Monique has been the keynote presenter for Washington State Veterans Women Summit, Washington State Social Security Administration, many Washington and Oregon National Guard Family Readiness Yellow Ribbon Programs, and has trained over 10,000 active duty and reserve military personnel, military families and civilians across the United States just to name a few. She also pioneered the Air Force’s 1st Airman Resiliency Cell located at Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA. Monique has a list of degrees and certifications, but her love for people allows her to spend personal time towards community service. She has volunteered over 5,000 hours as a Department of Defense (DoD) Sexual Assault Victim Advocate, Tacoma Rescue Mission, Tacoma Urban League, Hilltop Urban Gardens, Peace Community Center, and Sober Solutions Housing & Supportive Services; and because of this she is a recipient of the 2014 Presidential Volunteer Service Award and the 2017 recipient of the John H. Anderson Military Citizen of the Year. She is the President of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. Tacoma Chapter, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and founder of Beyond Beauty Women’s Social Savings Club. Monique is married to James Dubose and they currently reside in Puyallup, Washington with their daughter Monee’ and her mother Carolyn Felton.
One of THE favorite part of the Curves Beautifully Empowered Experience is our time with our day 1 board member and sister friend Deidre Hairston Daymon!!!
Deidre Daymon is a Seattle native. She received her bachelor’s degree in human services from Western Washington University – Woodring College of Education. She has been passionate about dance and fitness from a young age through gymnastics, ballet and a variety of dance programs. She was introduced to MixxedFit in 2013. She enjoyed it so much she became an instructor in 2014, and she taught her first class May of 2015.
Deidre is enthusiastic about encouraging others, especially young women, to live their best life possible through individuality and health and wellness! She feels MixxedFit is a fun way for people to release stress and to express themselves through dance while being physically active. So excited to have Hannah Schnabel as one of our Inspirational Speakers
Hannah Schnabel is a true Renaissance Woman: Owner and Designer for Belle Ampleur, a plus size luxury clothing company based in Seattle, WA, the Creator and Producer behind Curves in Bloom- a one day celebration of all bodies, a designer for stage and film, an actress, public speaker, home chef, and dog mom to her rescue pup, Beatrice! Hannah loves to create connections for humans of all backgrounds to have meaningful conversations around the intersections of art, body image, politics, and personal lived experiences.
The creation of her clothing line Belle Ampleur is a direct result of her 20 years of experience working in retail and the lack of options for the plus size consumer. She recognizes the sizeism that is inherent in fashion, and for years, empathized with her clients and wept with them in tiny fitting rooms surrounded by clothing that they could only look at, not wear. This frustration with sizeism led to a righteous anger, and catapulted her into a new career. Hannah went back to school at 30 years old –learned the trade of pattern making and garment construction– and then launched Belle Ampleur three years ago. Hannah continues the fight, one garment, one client at a time. Hannah longs to be an integral part of destroying sizeism in fashion and the erroneous notion that fat women don’t want high end fashion. Hannah Schnabel makes handmade clothing for women of beautiful scale. Luxury. Life sized.
