Be Bold Be You!

If you have been following Curves Beautifully Empowered for any length of the time you are more than aware that we love to support and connect with other awesome women who are empowering women. I had the honor to attend Cherish A Jewel’s, 1st Annual Be Bold Be You Women’s Empowerment & Networking Bruch in Seattle, WA. Before I share about the fabulousness of the day please let me share a little bit about the founder Ms. Crystal Townsend.

Crystal is the Founder of Cherish A Jewel, visionary, mother, sister and friend to many. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is stunning on the outside with a heart for girls and women.

“My vision for Cherish A Jewel stems from my desire and hope to see women, men, and youth reach their full potential.  As a woman who has gone through her own pressure and polishing process, I am inspired to empower change in others while they are yet in their process.

With the support of the postive people around me I was able to take productive control of my life.  I am stronger, wiser, and in a focused purposeful place to give back.  It is my heart’s desire that Cherish A Jewel is that supportive platform used to reach others  – to support and to empower just as I have been supported and empowered.”   ~Crystal Townsend

As you entered the event it was warm, sophisticated and beautifully decorated! Be Bold Be You Women’s Empowerment & Networking Brunch kicked off with a vibrant brunch prepared by panelist member Dayo Jones’s Company Dayo Sense Catering and Dinners To Go. Who later shared that she was an Architect who started pre-paring to go meals that turned into catering events for 20 to now 10 years later preparing feast for over 600.

After we were all well fed we were seated for the panelist portion of the brunch hosted by Latrice Donahue who did a splendid job moderating the panel. The distinguished panel included the keynote speaker Mrs. Liz Nead who was introduced by the gorgeous Sharonda Duncan. Liz shared about her father’s vision at 14 years old of leaving Mumbai to live in the United States and how he passionately pursued her mother until he captured her heart. My take away is that when you change your vision you change your life! When you catch your vision, live your vision and watch it fall into place.

The creative darling Mrs. Latasha Haynes of Ike and Tash Photography and Motion spoke passionately about the importance of moving forward toward your dreams even when you feel fearful. She shared her amazing story of how she grew up in the foster care system and on her wedding day she met her family. 8 years of marriage and 5 years of running a successful business she was truly an inspiration.

The dynamic duo Shalon Jasper and Dior Davenport of Shador Studio of Esthetics who are sisters gave great insight on their thriving business which added a Washington State accreditation for training in their field. The sisters who both hold masters’ in education shared their experiences about life trials that successfully prepared them for the work they are doing today. The ladies of Shador Spa message was clear, start now and professionally walk in your purpose until you master it. “Fake until you make it!”

Empowerment focused Lynnae Pompeo with AdvoCare shared her passion for helping people reach their goals physically and financially. She shared how she achieved having her dream job working in juvenile justice and her fascination of seeing people receive a second chance to live their life positively.

The powerful  Keuna Barfield of Best Choice Realty talked about how there are two types of people in the world, those that lead and those who follow. She clearly defined herself as being a natural born leader and from an early age she knew entrepreneurship was a must because being told what to do was NOT her forte. It took Keuna 8 months to sell her first home but when she did she sold 3 homes with in that month.

Passionate Candace Smile aka Mz Twist gave a heartfelt testimony for how she survived cancer and launched successfully into her business Mz. Twist Artistry Studio. Candace share how she spent a lot of time doing what others expected her to do but once she fell in love with her creativity she was unstoppable and often amazes herself!

It was an amazing day with amazing women on the panel and in the room. Kudos to Crystal Townsend and her amazing staff and volunteers for putting together a wonderful empowering event! I look forward to attending future events by these amazing women!

    1. YES! The work being done to empower our world is a group effort. No one can do it alone and so I make a point of supporting others who are doing amazing work.
